Find Me In Your Labyrinth novel Chapter 2538

The next day

When Sylvia arrived at the office, Amy was already waiting for her inside. The moment she walked in, Amy jumped to her feet, looking helpless and anxious. “Harry called me again,” she blurted out. “When I didn’t answer, he started texting—he says if I don’t go back to him, he’ll contact my family.”

“He’s just trying to scare you. Don’t let him get to you,” Sylvia said firmly. “If he’s scheming to get money out of you, that means he’s not completely reckless or stupid. He’s weighing his options—he won’t actually do anything dangerous.”

Amy looked a little more at ease. “Okay.”

Milanda breezed in, spotted Amy, and raised an eyebrow. “Uh-oh, what happened this time?”

“Nothing serious—Harry’s been calling Amy again,” Sylvia replied.

Milanda grinned. “Maybe we should find a couple of people to rough him up a bit.”

Amy’s eyes widened. “What?”

Milanda quickly laughed. “Kidding! We can’t go breaking the law.”

“Alright, enough scaring Amy,” Sylvia said, giving Milanda a pointed look.

But after Milanda’s theatrics, the heavy, tense mood in the room eased considerably. Amy managed a small smile. “Boss, I’ll get back to work now.”

Sylvia glanced at her with concern. “Are you sure you’re up for it? You can take a couple of days off if you need.”

Amy shook her head. “If I sit around alone, I’ll just overthink everything. I’d rather keep busy.” With that, she slipped out the door.

Watching her leave, Milanda frowned. “She really does seem terrified of Harry.”

Sylvia nodded. “After what happened yesterday, she’s shaken. He hit her. That kind of thing leaves a mark.”

“What a jerk. Hitting a woman—unbelievable,” Milanda said, her frustration rising.

She vented a bit more, then remembered the folder in her hands. Passing it to Sylvia for her signature, she hurried back to her own tasks.

Near noon, Sylvia’s phone rang. It was Eugene. “Have you had lunch yet?”
