The man tenderly kissed her, accompanied by the soft patter of rain outside, creating a softness in her heart that was beyond words.
Emily, though weary to her bones, couldn't bring herself to push him away. Instead, she clung to his shoulders, and responded to his passion with all that she had.
By the time Emily woke up again, daylight had broken and the rain had ceased. The warm sunlight streamed in through the window, casting a lazy warmth in the room.
Charlie walked in through the door, now dressed in a crisp white shirt, looking even more refined and elegant.
Emily found herself staring at him, unable to tear her gaze away.
Charlie leaned down, softly murmuring, "Good morning, sweetheart. I've got a day of fun planned for us."
Emily's voice was slightly husky as she replied, "Where are we going? I haven’t seen Kya for days. I miss her."
"Just you and me for the weekend," Charlie said, kissing her cheek gently. "I'll bring her back tomorrow night. Once Kya is back, we'll move to the Royal Mansion."
Emily shook her head. "I want to stay here."
"Why?" Charlie frowned. "The Royal Mansion is spacious. You and Kya would be more comfortable there."
"But Charlie," Emily said earnestly, "we are in a relationship, aren't we?"
"Yes," he nodded.
"We should be equals when we are in a relationship," she continued. "I don't want to be protected under your wings all the time. I know I might not have much authority to say this, considering my dad's well-being was taken care of by you. But I still hope that within my capabilities, I can be more independent. Can you understand what I mean?"
Charlie's gaze softened. "I understand, and it's okay. If you want to stay here, then I'll stay with you."
Emily's eyes widened. "You're moving into my house?"
"How else would it be?" Charlie chuckled. "While it's possible for a couple in a relationship not to live together, as Kya's father, I must be with her. Unless you want to tell me to take Kya away and just come over for our dates, just like a regular couple."
For the two days and one night, Emily felt like she had never been this wild before in her life.
On Sunday afternoon, they returned to J City. Charlie went to pick up Kya, and later, he arranged to met Jonathan, Carson, and others for a gathering at the 9th Mansion.
As they were taking Kya home, Mrs. James followed them to the yard, worriedly asking, "You're not going to take her away and never bring her back, are you?"
Charlie replied, "Depends on the mood."
Mrs. James looked shocked. "What do you mean 'depends on the mood'? Are you going to bring her back when in a good mood or a bad mood?"
Charlie gave a nonchalant smile. "What I mean is, it depends on Emily's mood. Kya is her child. If she says she wants you guys to see her, I'll bring Kya back for you occasionally. If she says no, there's nothing I can do."
Mrs. James was speechless.
