Jonathan raised an eyebrow, "Do you suspect that he set you up all those years ago to get you out of the organization by faking your death?"
"No!" Estelle was adamant. Her brother wouldn't do that. He wouldn't know their mission was compromised, know that Wolf and their team would die, and still send them to their deaths!
She believed in her brother. He wouldn't do such a thing!
Jonathan tightened his grip on her hand, "It's been so many years, stop dwelling on it!"
Estelle nodded gently and continued walking forward. Jonathan was right. It had been a long time and there was no point in bringing up the past.
She needed to focus on how to bring her brother home.
The next day, Estelle and her group spent another day in City C.
Mr. Jarvis took Kya up the mountain, picking wild berries, chestnuts, and walnuts from trees. They were having a blast, and when they got back, Wade taught Kya how to peel chestnuts.
In the evening, the kitchen used the chestnuts they brought back to make roasted chestnuts, chicken with chestnuts, chestnut cake. The day went by quickly, filled with joy and fulfillment.
The following morning, the group left City C.
Mr. Jarvis and Kya were the most reluctant. Jarvis repeatedly told Emily to come back and visit with Estelle whenever they had time.
Emily was grateful for Jarvis's hospitality, promising that she and Kya would come back to visit him.
Once everyone got in the car and they drove off, Estelle looked back to see Jarvis still standing at the door. She laughed, "Kya is the popular one, my grandpa never sees me off when I leave."
Emily laughed, "Mr. Jarvis is so nice, we'll definitely come back."
Estelle quirked an eyebrow, "Next time if I come back alone without Kya, I bet my grandpa will kick me out!"
Laughter filled the car.
Even without the support of the Jarvis family, Estelle would still fall in love with Jonathan and bravely pursue him. Even if the Macclain family looked down on Estelle, she wouldn't care. She would show them that they were the ones who couldn't reach her standards!
So, the root of all Emily's problems was that she wasn't strong enough!
She wasn't capable enough, and her heart wasn't strong enough either!
She needed to improve in many aspects.
"Emily, there's no need to belittle yourself," Estelle said softly, "Everyone's upbringing is different, leading to different experiences and personalities in adulthood. You admire many things that I have, but I also envy you for your happy childhood. Everyone has their own set of 'abilities'. Your kindness and positivity are your abilities."
Maybe her relationship with Charlie made Emily a bit pessimistic, but over the years, she studied abroad on her own, gave birth to Kya on her own, and raised Kya on her own. Even during the toughest times, she never complained.
Estelle always believed that Emily was brave and positive!
