Ms. Simmons asked from the side, "Is your mother discharged from the hospital?"

"She's back home." Emily nodded in response.

"That's great!" Ms. Simmons smiled.

Kya excitedly asked, "Can I visit grandma then?"

"Yes, I'll take you when we get a chance."

Emily waved at Kya, "Come here! Don't keep clinging to Uncle Charlie. He's got important stuff to do."

Kya obediently left Charlie and ran towards Emily.

Charlie felt an emptiness as Kya left his arms, and he slowly got up to bid her goodbye.

"Bye, Uncle Charlie! Don't forget to eat on time every day!" Kya looked at him reluctantly, reminding him with the words that Emily often used on her.

Charlie gave a genuine smile, said goodbye to Kya, and walked towards his car. As he passed Emily, he whispered, "Don't forget to report to the office on Monday."

Emily lowered her head and said, "I know."

Charlie didn't look back but got into the car and drove off.

Emily finally relaxed and said to Ms. Simmons, "You go up and rest for a while. I'll stay here and play with Kya."

Ms. Simmons nodded, then suddenly asked, "Now that your mother is discharged, do I still need to come?"

Estelle was puzzled: "What's he up to?"

"Maybe he despises me so much that he wants to make my life harder." Emily sighed. She couldn't think of any other reason.

Estelle's eyes turned cold. "Will he give you a hard time at the company?"

Emily chuckled. "If I dare to work under his nose, why would I be afraid of him giving me a hard time?"

She lowered her head and said softly, "He's right; a simple 'thank you' doesn't mean much. He's been helping me ever since we met. I owe him for the Noreen incident. If he thinks me working at his company could make up for my mistake, I'm willing to."

Estelle looked at her sympathetically and said, "You couldn't have foreseen the Noreen incident. Neither you nor Charlie are at fault."

"No, I benefited from it while he got involved. It's only natural that he's angry with me." Emily raised her head and smiled, saying, "I don't feel wronged at all."
