Find Me In Your Labyrinth novel Chapter 1000

Charlie strode in, only realizing after he was inside that he might have been a bit presumptuous. "Is Kya's mom home?" he asked.

Ms. Simmons immediately replied, "No, she's out taking care of a sick person!"

Charlie's face darkened, "She leaves her own sick daughter to take care of someone else?"

Ms. Simmons quickly defended, "It's not like that, really had no choice..."

But Charlie didn't stick around to hear the rest. He stepped into the living room, finding Kya lying on the couch crying. She had a fever and appeared weak, which really tugged at his heartstrings.

"Kya!"

Charlie put down the fruits he brought, lifted Kya into his arms, "I’m here, where do you feel unwell?"

Kya leaned on him with a wronged expression, tear stains still visible on her face.

Charlie touched her forehead; it was burning hot.

He couldn't help but feel anxious, "Has she been having a fever the whole time?"

"No," Ms. Simmons explained. "Kya's mom said Kya had a fever last night, but it subsided after medication. She was fine this morning, but the fever kicked in again after lunch."

Annoyed, Charlie said, "We need to take her to the hospital."

Ms. Simmons quickly replied, "Kids in the neighborhood had this before, and it was the same - recurring fevers. The hospital couldn't do much, as long as we give her antipyretics on time, it's fine."

Charlie frowned, made a call.

Listening to his conversation, it seemed the doctor's advice was similar to what Ms. Simmons said. The viral infection had to run its course, fever would last for a few days, and things should clear up after another three days of observation.

After hanging up, Charlie asked Ms. Simmons, "Did you give Kya her fever medication?"

"I did!" Ms. Simmons quickly responded.

"I'll take Kya to her room," Ms. Simmons offered.

Looking at the sleeping Kya, Charlie didn't want to put her down, he found a comfortable position for her to lie in, "I'll hold her, so she won't be startled awake."

"But..." Ms. Simmons hesitated, "It's tiring to hold a child while sleeping, I can do it."

"It's fine, you can go do your thing."

Charlie's tone was light but firm, leaving Ms. Simmons no choice but to retreat to the bedroom to fetch a blanket.

Charlie sat on the couch with Kya sleeping in his arms. He carefully covered Kya with the blanket Ms. Simmons brought.

Ms. Simmons watched his gentle movements and asked, "Sir, are you married?"

Charlie looked up, "Not yet."
