"If anyone's to blame, it's Lillian. She couldn't keep her man, and she couldn't hold onto the wealth and status of the Blake family. How can you pin that on Bella?"
Bella's expression was grim.
Martin glared at Brandon. "From now on, no one in this house is to mention that name again.
"She is no longer worthy of being a Mercer. Why should she be brought up so frequently?
"Everyone needs to find a way to make Bella and Sebastian's marriage happen. We'll do whatever it takes to get the Blake elders' approval."
Having already disowned Lillian, Martin now considered Bella his only daughter.
He naturally hoped she would successfully marry into the Blake family, continuing the alliance that would greatly benefit the Mercer Group.
Brandon, having had his fill of grapes, stood up, no longer bothering to say anything more.
"I'm heading upstairs. Call me when it's time to interview the new housekeepers. I want to choose my own staff personally."
Martin had been looking forward to a relaxing weekend after an exhausting week. Instead, he found himself catering to Sabrina's needs and worrying about Bella's problems.
The comfortable atmosphere of his home was gone. He had no idea why his luck had been so bad lately.
Brandon just felt tired. Even when he closed his eyes, he couldn't find any peace.
Sabrina, however, was very observant and immediately noticed his discomfort and fatigue.
She gave Bella a subtle look.
Bella stood up. "Dad, Mom, I'm sorry for making you worry about me. I'll go upstairs for now. I'll let you know as soon as there's any good news."
