Mrs. Blake spent a long time persuading her husband before he finally agreed to go.
When they arrived, Sebastian and Bella were already there.
Sebastian had spared no expense, booking the entire restaurant for their meal.
Bella had also prepared a number of expensive gifts, though Sebastian had told her what to buy, and naturally, it was his money she used.
So, Bella didn't feel the slightest pinch spending the money on these gifts.
After all, it wasn't her money anyway.
Upon seeing the elderly couple, Bella greeted them respectfully. "Mr. Blake, Mrs. Blake."
The old man, scowling, walked past her without a word and took his seat.
Mrs. Blake managed a polite, albeit strained, smile. "Hello."
Just one look at his father's face told Sebastian that he still disliked Bella and would likely not consent to the marriage.
He immediately gave Bella a look, and she took the hint, quickly presenting the gifts.
She was planning to win over the old man anyway. After all, her plan to get Debbie into the Blake family estate required contacting him directly.
So, even though he was giving her the cold shoulder, Bella had to steel herself and press on. She had to win him over.
"Mr. Blake, Sebastian told me you enjoy tea and chess, so I found a rare chess set especially for you. I hope you like it."
She opened the gift, revealing a well-known, valuable set. The old man knew his stuff and recognized it at a glance.
But even so, his expression didn't change.
He had no particular interest in collecting such sets; the one he used daily was already of very high quality.
Besides, he recalled that this particular set had been on the auction circuit for a long time.
