After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 118

Isabella stepped right back into her studio, letting the door swing shut behind her.

“How’d it go?” Laura asked as she poured Isabella a glass of water.

“It’s fine now. Everything’s back to normal,” Isabella said, her voice calm.

Laura handed her the glass. “We should probably just find our own actors from now on. That way, no one can mess with us.”

Isabella shook her head. “No, it’s not worth it. This industry is only hot for this year and maybe next. Once everyone else jumps in, it’s going to get messy and crowded. We need to cash in while we can, then invest in something else. There’s no need to spend a ton on actors. We can just borrow a few from The Adams Group for now.”

From the start, Isabella had never planned on making this a long-term thing. Every industry was crowded these days. Whenever something new took off, people rushed in and things got intense fast. She knew, thanks to her second chance at life, that the boom in short web series would only last a couple of years. Her plan was simple—make the most of it, then get out before things got ugly.

Laura sat beside her, passing her the warm water. “Honestly, Isabella, I don’t get it. It’s like you can see the future. You’d never even mentioned short series before. How did you know this would take off?”

Laura rolled her eyes. “He did. He asked me to go with him, but I turned him down. I’m not his girlfriend or wife, so why would I go as his plus-one? People would immediately think we’re together. I told you already, I’m not interested in Mr. Mason. Once I found out he was Ethan’s friend, that was it for me. I can’t see myself spending my life with him.”

She stretched, looking thoughtful. “Honestly, I want someone who gets me. Someone who shares my passions and interests. There are a lot of single writers in my circle. I can meet them at literary events. Maybe I’ll date a fellow author. If I don’t find the right person, I’m happy staying single. I earn my own money, spend it how I like. There’s nothing wrong with living life on your own terms.”

“If my family wasn’t always on my case, I wouldn’t even think about marriage,” Laura admitted, sighing. “My parents are always saying you’re supposed to do certain things at certain ages. They say being single and child-free is fine when you’re young, but when you get old and your parents are gone, you’ll be all alone. Honestly, they say if you faint at home, no one would even notice.”
