Thanks to her meddling, Jordan had kicked Malvina out and promised never to see her again. Still, the fact that he had cheated stayed in her heart, a pain she knew would never fully leave. Every time she thought about another woman taking her husband, her blood boiled.
And now Ethan had fallen for Isabella too.
The two men who used to treat her like she was the center of their world had both betrayed her. Both had promised to love her forever, but in the end, they left her for someone else.
“You’re such a snake. You did this on purpose. You let that little tramp move in just to destroy my marriage with Jordan.”
Natalie let out a cold laugh. “Destroy your marriage with Jordan? If it was someone else, maybe that would work out for you. But Mandy’s just as ambitious as you. If she manages to break up my marriage and take my place, do you really think you two will stay close? She’ll side with her man every time. You really think she’ll let you keep acting like you own the Lane family?”
Deborah kept her calm. “Mandy’s my cousin. She’s young, beautiful, and honestly, she’s not ready for the world. How could I let her live alone? If anything happened to her, I wouldn’t be able to face her parents. That’s why I brought her here. This is my home now. The head of the family is my husband, not yours, Natalie.”
“I never told Mandy to break up your marriage. If she likes Jordan, that’s her own business. I can’t control her feelings. If she really does break you and Jordan up and takes your place, that just means she was capable enough to do it. She’s only my cousin anyway. I can’t control her, just like I couldn’t control my own sister.”
“The Lane family belongs to my husband. Do you really think he’d treat his own wife and son badly? I’m not fighting for anything. I trust my husband to take care of me and our son.”
