After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 978

Natalie felt her mood lift the moment her husband transferred two million into her account. She turned to the housekeeper and said, “Finish tidying up, and give the floor a good mop. I’m heading out. Oh, and while I’m gone, lock my bedroom. Don’t let Deborah in.”

She wasn’t really worried about Deborah, though. The real problem was Mandy. That woman had no shame and was always scheming to end up in Jordan’s bed. Natalie had even suggested to Jordan once that he could play along with Mandy just to mess with Deborah and her sisterhood, but when Mandy actually started making moves, Natalie found she couldn’t handle it. No matter how she acted, she still cared about Jordan.

The housekeeper nodded. “Don’t worry, Natalie. Deborah already told Mandy and Kevin they’re not allowed in your private rooms unless you or Jordan say so.”

Deborah had made it clear to both Mandy and her son: stay out of Jordan and Natalie’s bedroom and Jordan’s study unless given explicit permission. She’d told Mandy in private the only way she should step into Jordan’s room is if he personally invited her.

Deborah knew Jordan would never be into Mandy, and even if he was, she’d never let Mandy marry into the Lane family. She wasn’t about to let anyone compete with her or her son for the inheritance. Still, Mandy could be useful. If she caused trouble between Jordan and Natalie, all the better. Lately, there had been some obvious tension between the couple, and Deborah thought letting Mandy move in had done the trick. What she didn’t know was that Natalie had actually caught Jordan cheating.

Neither Natalie nor Jordan had made a scene about it. Even Jackson was in the dark, and the Gates family kept quiet too. After all, their own daughter wasn’t completely innocent.

“About time she learned her place,” Natalie muttered, grabbing her purse and heading downstairs.

In the living room, Deborah sat alone on the sofa, flipping through a magazine. When Natalie came down, Deborah glanced up and set the magazine aside.
