Seeing West return with grocery bags in both hands, Melody couldn't help but tease him.
“West, we're here to help! I'll take on the vegetable-washing duty.”
West gave her a look of mock disgust.
“Forget it, superstar. Your hands are far too precious. If you were spotted in a kitchen, I'd end up trending on social media with you.”
The Holts were now very familiar with Janina's friends and would often joke around with them.
Melody was a celebrity and had to avoid being photographed in any compromising situation. If she and West were seen in the kitchen together, the tabloids would have a field day.
Melody scoffed. “It would be my honor to trend alongside the owner of The Tasting Room.”
West set down the groceries, grabbed an apron from the wall, and tied it on with a knowing smile.
“The honor wouldn't be mine. Your fans would crucify me.”
“Wow, West, I'm discovering you're not just a great cook, you've got a sense of humor too! Maybe you should do a comedy sketch with me? It'd be a huge hit!”
West waved his hands dismissively. “I think I'll stick to studying recipes.”
Maggie lightly smacked Melody. “Stop teasing West and eat your durian.”
Maggie handed a piece of durian to Melody.
Janina and Wendy brought out some fruit and snacks from the fridge and arranged them on the table.
Janina shoved a piece of jackfruit into Melody's mouth. “Eating will shut you up!”
“You guys relax and have some snacks. I'll get started so we can eat lunch early, and you'll have the afternoon for shopping.” With that, West turned and headed into the kitchen.
“Hey, West, wait! We said we'd help too,” Maggie said, pulling Melody up. They ran over and took the vegetables from West's hands.
