Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 300

Fairchild was her last hope.

She believed there was no illness he couldn't handle. She was waiting for him. If even Fairchild was powerless, then she was truly finished.

Sensing her sister's anxiety, Natalie offered comfort. "The doctor said you need to relax and not stress yourself out. Fairchild will be back tomorrow, and he'll definitely be able to cure you. You have to be happy, Janina. You have Liam and Joy, and you have our whole family…"

Natalie took out her phone, opened the photo gallery, and handed it to her. "Look how cute the little ones are. They change every single day."

Janina put down her bowl of soup, her attention completely captured by the screen. In a video, her son, Liam, was shaking a rattle, but his tiny hands lacked the strength to hold it for long, and it kept slipping from his grasp. Drool trickled down his chin onto his bib. Her daughter, Joy, was on her stomach on a playmat, kicking her little legs and happily gnawing on her fist.

Because they were premature, the twins weren't as chubby as other newborns. Janina's fingers hovered over the screen, as if she could reach through and touch their soft bodies, stroke their little faces, their tiny bottoms, their little legs…

In the next video, the babies were whimpering, hungry for milk. Joy's little hand was grabbing her brother's ear, trying to bring it to her mouth.

Hot tears splashed onto the phone screen. Janina hastily wiped them away with the back of her hand, but more followed. Throughout her hospital stay, she had constantly looked at photos and videos of her children. The thought of her illness made the ache in her heart unbearable.

She had never wanted to live more than she did in this moment. If she died, her children would have no mother. They were so small. They hadn't even spoken their first words, hadn't yet called her "Mommy."
