A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 64

"Demi?" Maria called out.

"Huh?" Demi looked up at Maria with a calm gaze.

Maria observed Demi's eyes and saw nothing but calmness. Perhaps she got it wrong.

After all, it was possible to be an illusion, considering the light reflections from the lawn.

Everyone was indeed mistaken—Demi wasn't crying. It was because of the light reflection in her gaze, which made it look like there were tears in her eyes.

After all, Demi wouldn't cry so easily after 300 years.

"Nothing. I just want to remind you to eat your food. Don't just focus on your studies," Maria said.

"Oh, yeah," Demi replied before biting into the grilled mushroom.

On the other side, everyone was busy helping Ana treat her burned finger.

Thomas hugged Ana in his embrace while she extended her finger for the doctor to apply ointment. She bit down on her lip, trying to endure her pain to show pure resilience.

Demi got up and walked into the manor. She found it so noisy that it was hard to focus. The noise kept reminding her of the day she was incinerated.

The memory was carved deeply in her soul, refusing to be forgotten even after 300 years. Everything always seemed to bring up this horrible memory.

Maria looked at Demi before raising her arm and saying, "Mr. Hahn, Demi and I are tired, so we'll go to bed now!"

Without waiting for a reply, Maria quickly chased after Demi. She finally caught up to her in the living room on the first floor.

"What happened? Are you mad?" Maria hugged Demi's shoulders.

"No. It's just that it was too noisy. I can't focus on my study," Demi replied softly.

"Well, it is kinda noisy." Maria nodded.
