Thomas was slightly stunned. He felt both humiliated and angry as he retorted, "Fine! If you want to sever all ties, go ahead. Don't you dare regret this later! You act as though we wanted you to return. But you should count for yourself how many things have gone wrong ever since you came into our house!"
Thomas had originally felt guilty toward Demi, but now, after seeing her unharmed while they had been wracked with guilt for so long, he naturally felt displeased.
In fact, when he first saw Demi, he already felt disgruntled. Although she was clearly fine, she didn't even greet them and had intentionally made them worry.
"Thomas!" A scolding voice came from behind him.
Thomas looked up and saw Daniel walking toward him.
Demi, however, couldn't care less who it was. She simply walked past Thomas.
Just as she was about to leave, Daniel quickened his pace and called out, "Demi, wait!"
Demi hesitated for a moment. She turned her head and coldly stared at Daniel as he approached.
She had initially planned to run away. After all, no one would be able to catch up to her.
But then, she wondered why she should run. After all, she hadn't done anything wrong to anyone. It would only make her look like she owed the Pitt family and was running away in shame.
"Demi, head back inside with me. Sit at the side and wait for a while. Once we're done discussing the contract, we'll go back together. If there's anything, we'll discuss it at home. Also, it's best to have a lawyer take a proper look at your contract."
Daniel's expression was stern, and his tone left no room for dispute. He spoke with the air of someone accustomed to giving orders.
Demi widened her eyes in surprise. She suddenly felt the urge to laugh, and so she did. "Mr. Pitt, you don't really think that after you locked me in a burning car and let me be…"
The words "burned to death" remained unspoken.
After a short pause, Demi continued, "You don't really think I'd still go back to that house to serve all of you, cook and clean for your family, be your housekeeper, and work as Ana's assistant, do you? What do you take me for—a minion you can trample and manipulate at will?"
Ultimately, Demi had swallowed back the words "burned to death" because she was still alive and standing right there. If she said that, the others would just think she was talking nonsense.
"Mom indeed made a mistake this time, but she didn't do it on purpose. She's been very sad these past few days…" Daniel spoke in a low voice and softened tone.
