"Hey, hey, that's enough! Demi's not even an adult yet." Maria cut them off.
"She's 16," Cody countered with zero hesitation. "Old enough to start dating."
Demi frowned slightly, clearly uncomfortable. "I don't know…"
"Nope. You have to pick one. You're not actually choosing a boyfriend, just evaluating—who would best fit the role?" Cody insisted.
Demi thought about it seriously and frowned. After a moment, she answered, "Then... I'd pick Connor."
"What? Why?" came a chorus of complaints from the male guests who weren't picked.
Connor, meanwhile, stared at Demi in shock—he hadn't expected her to choose him at all. He was just as eager as the others to hear her reasoning.
Even Felix looked at her, his usually unreadable gaze flickering with surprise.
Last time, during a round of "Truth or Dare", she had chosen him to confess to. And now, she'd picked someone else in what felt like the blink of an eye. How did her feelings change so quickly?
"Demi, you're doomed now." Vivian laughed. "Connor's got a whole army of die-hard fangirls!"
Meanwhile, the "die-hard" fangirls in the comments were celebrating.
"Wow! Demi picked Connor! We should celebrate this!"
"If it's Demi, the Connexions approve 100%."
"Calling her 'Connor's girlfriend' already? How shameless."
"Honestly? They do look great together."
"I mean, Connor is just... really well-rounded," Demi said seriously. "And I saved his life once. If he were my partner, I think the chances of him betraying me or falling for someone else later would be really low."
Connor couldn't stop the corners of his lips from twitching up. He tried to play it cool, but it was evident that he was thrilled.
"Wait, that's her logic? Low risk of betrayal? Honestly? Kinda smart."
"So saving a life means securing a future husband? Noted."
"I'm going to go faint in front of my idol tomorrow. Give him a chance to save me."
"Look at Connor trying to hide his smile—too late, bro. We saw it."
"Demi's the kind of girl even I want to marry, and I'm a girl."
"I'm a guy, and I want to marry her too!"
"Of course, it's just a game," Demi added quickly. "Please don't—"
