A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 385

"I wasn't even eavesdropping. I'm listening openly." Felix lifted his gaze, lazily glancing at Daniel with a hint of disregard.

Daniel replied, "This is a private matter between us. How can you sneak over here and eavesdrop without asking for permission?"

"He's my friend. Is it wrong for him to care about me? What, are you saying I can't have people who care about me?" Demi's cold voice came from behind Daniel and the other Pitts.

Daniel was left speechless. He turned to look at Demi, his expression cold. "Even if he's your friend, we were talking about private matters. He didn't have our permission to eavesdrop. Do you think that's appropriate?"

"What? It's okay for Ana to eavesdrop but not for my friend to listen?" Demi shot back coldly.

"How can he be the same as Annie? He's an outsider," Daniel pointed at Felix, his voice tinged with frustration.

Demi couldn't help but laugh bitterly.

"In my eyes, you're the outsider!" Demi's smile was icy and mocking. "And he, he's a true friend who genuinely cares about me."

Daniel was at a loss for words again.

"I suggest you start treating my friends with more respect. After all, if you piss me off, I can easily spill a few words and ruin your and your precious sister's reputation. Don't say I didn't warn you," Demi scoffed.

Daniel frowned, standing silently. He had never felt so powerless before in his life. He'd always believed that if they lowered their stance, softened their attitude, and tried enough times, Demi would eventually soften.

But no matter how often they approached her, her attitude hadn't softened. In fact, it had only become colder and tougher.

"Demi, you're finally back. We were so scared when you weren't here, thinking the wolves might suddenly jump up and attack," Caitlin said in a pitiful tone as soon as Demi stepped inside the cave.

"They wouldn't dare with me being so close by," Demi replied with a smile.

"This place is pretty nice. We can pet wolves here. Let's sleep in the wolf den tomorrow," Chad said eagerly.

"Look at you! Since Demi is so amazing, let's go sleep in a tiger den tomorrow night!" George said with a look of longing. It seemed he was serious about it.

"Yeah, that sounds great!" Herne immediately became excited and turned to the staff. "Are there tigers on this mountain?"

"There... there are..." the staff member hesitated, swallowing hard before nodding.
