A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 363

"I bet Charles only noticed Demi because she can throw a punch. Birds of a feather flock together!" Daniel sneered.

Stephen shot his son a warning glare. "Watch your tone."

Michelle sighed and said, "Ana, we've raised you to be too naive. At 16, you should be cultivating connections with promising young men."

In truth, they had allowed Anna to study in the elite school not just for the quality of education. It was a platform for her to make friends with those in power and secure alliances, preferably through marriage.

The Pitts didn't mind Anna being in a relationship at a young age if their potential son-in-law was worthy.

If Ana had been the one close to Charles, they wouldn't be in this humiliating position.

"I understand," Ana murmured, ducking her head demurely.

Yet, her eyes darkened with resolve. She'd known about Michelle's and Stephen's true intentions, and she had Charles in her sights since middle school.

Yet somehow, Demi had gotten to him first. Now, Charles orbited around her like a lovesick moon, barely sparing Ana a glance even when she struck up conversations with him.

Michelle was right. Ana had to work harder.

The next day at school, Charles spun around in his seat, grinning. "Demi, let's grab some bubble tea after class. I found this amazing place—"

Demi interrupted coldly, "I'm going home."

Charles' lackeys and classmates alike stared in shock. Only Demi would dare reject Charles so bluntly.

Ana turned along with the others, her gaze simmering as it flickered between Charles and Demi.

"What are you looking at?" Charles' icy glare swept across the room.

Everyone immediately snapped back around.

When Charles turned to Demi again, his expression softened instantly. "Why are you heading home so early?"

"To eat and study," Demi replied immediately.

"I… I'm going to study at the café too. I've even made an appointment with my tutors!"

What a liar.

Demi smirked. "Which subject?"

"Uh… multiple."

It wasn't a big deal. Just a few texts to his tutors would do.

"Fine." Demi finally nodded, amused. She did have some questions piled up to ask the tutors anyway.
