A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 350

No one in the Pitt family slept well that night.

Sure, they'd all acted tough and dismissive earlier, but deep down, they were terrified Demi would really show up at that press conference and drop the truth on everyone.

Daniel kept messaging the few reporters he had connections with—ones he knew had been invited by either Maria or Felix—asking whether Demi had canceled.

Each time, the answer was no.

After the fourth or fifth time checking in, the reporters started getting annoyed and told him flat-out—if anything changed, they'd let him know.

But just sitting there waiting was driving Daniel crazy. He was unable to stop himself from asking again every so often.

He wasn't the only one, either. Stephen, Michelle, and the rest of the family were just as anxious. They kept bugging Daniel for updates until he was ready to lose it.

...

Demi and the rest of the cast boarded the flight back home the next morning.

There was Wi-Fi on board, so Maria created a private group chat, inviting Connor, Chad, Tyler, Caitlin, and Cody.

Every one of them had asked Demi for a song. Even Cody, who had done it during that crazy round of Truth or Dare.

Demi had agreed on the spot.

The others had already chosen their tracks, and Maria planned to announce those deals at the press conference.

She knew Demi wasn't going to say much, and she didn't want the media to turn the Q&A into a feeding frenzy. So, she was bringing back up—some positive headlines to balance things out.

While Maria handled the strategy, Demi quietly worked on her phone, typing up a few song options for Cody to pick from.

Maria wanted Cody to settle on his song before the press conference.

...

By sunset, Demi arrived back in Lynora City.
