"Mr. Harrington, we need to talk to Demi in private. Would you mind stepping out for a moment?" Harold looked at Felix.
Felix glanced at Demi. "Am I good to come in?"
"Go ahead." She motioned toward the room.
Felix walked in without hesitation.
"As for you two," she added without turning around. "Come in if you want. If not, don't block the doorway."
Then she walked back inside.
Harold and Thomas exchanged a look. After a beat of hesitation, they followed her in. Harold closed the door behind them.
Once inside, they realized they weren't alone.
"Maria? You're here too?" Thomas asked, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.
"Ms. Dane, we have some private matters to discuss with Demi. Would you mind giving us the room?" Harold asked politely.
Maria didn't answer. She looked at Demi instead. She only took orders from Demi. Besides, with both Pitt brothers present, it was better for her and Felix to stay—it evened the playing field.
"Maria and Mr. Harrington already know just about everything," Demi said calmly, her gaze flat as it landed on them.
Harold and Thomas froze slightly, sneaking glances at Maria and Felix.
Maria was shooting them a look that could cut glass. Felix, on the other hand, looked utterly unbothered. His expression was calm, but he radiated cold, unapproachable energy.
Thomas suddenly understood why Maria had been so obviously cold to him lately. But what surprised him more was how close Demi seemed to be with Felix. When had she confided in him?
"Demi, why would you tell other people about this?" Harold frowned, clearly disapproving.
"Why not?" Demi shot back coldly. "Even if I were the one who did something wrong—which I'm not—I still have the right to vent to people I trust."
"You—" Harold bristled.
"I overheard it, actually," Felix cut in coolly.
