"Why does everyone look like their jaws just hit the floor? Was Demi too fast at fishing?"
"No, seriously. I saw it clearly—she didn't even bait the hook. Just tossed it into the ocean and pulled up a fish. Isn't that wild?"
"If it were anyone else, yeah, it'd be shocking. But with Demi? I'm not even surprised anymore."
"She's like a walking miracle. Is there anything she can't do?"
The comments section flooded with compliments for Demi.
...
Demi reeled in seven fish in a row. Then she looked up and asked, "Should I keep going?"
"We're good. One fish per person is enough. Let's not waste," Wendy chimed in quickly.
"Wait—let me toss mine back," Nigel said, holding up a tiny one. "Demi, see if you can catch a bigger one."
"Sure," she nodded, casting her line again without hesitation.
While Nigel gently released his fish back into the sea, he slowly strolled over to Demi's side and lowered his voice. "Okay... Demi, be honest. What kind of fishing technique is that?"
Everyone nearby immediately perked up and tuned in.
"What?" Demi blinked at him, confused.
"I mean... you didn't even use bait. How did you still catch something?" he clarified.
She stared for a moment, and then she blinked again. And finally, it clicked—she'd forgotten to put bait on the hook.
"Uh... I guess I've got a few special skills or something," she said, shrugging as she reeled in her eighth fish.
"Well, you definitely have something special," Nigel said with a laugh.
"She's got real talent, that's for sure. Not something you can just copy," Wendy teased Nigel with a smirk.
"I'm not jealous! I'm just... curious," he protested.
"Oh, please. I know that look. You nearly popped an eyeball watching her. You're absolutely jealous," Wendy said, totally calling out Nigel.
"Okay, fine. A little," he admitted, grinning.
"How many did you guys catch?" Herne shouted from the other boat.
