"The circumstances could be different, and I can't give you a straight answer right now. From here on out, you guys need to figure it out yourselves—or go find someone better. I know my stuff when it comes to geomancy, but beyond that, I only know a little.
"Anyway, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave." Lionel stood up as he spoke and made his way toward the door with long strides.
Stephen and Daniel quickly followed to see him out. Everyone else stood up, too, watching him leave.
Meanwhile, Michelle stood frozen in place, uneasy and restless...
Lionel said the four of them had caused someone's death. But no matter how hard she tried to think about it, she couldn't come up with a single person they might've hurt—let alone killed.
If it had just been Lionel saying it, she could've brushed it off and convinced herself he was wrong. But Dylan said the exact same thing.
Stephen walked in, looking like a storm was brewing.
"You four better start thinking—what the hell did you do?" His voice was ice cold.
"Dad, I think that guy's a scammer. I mean, come on. Me and Thomas aside, Mom's always at home, and Annie's in school all day. When would we ever have the chance to kill someone?" Harold said, frowning.
"Mr. Walter and Mr. Hoffman are both respected experts. People respect them for a reason. And let's not forget—the company's been running into nonstop problems lately. And Annie got struck by lightning! You still think it's all nothing?" Stephen shot back.
Hearing that, Ana froze. She looked hurt and completely at a loss.
She hadn't gone to school the past couple of days. She'd been out doing charity work. Not just writing a check like she used to, but actually going out and getting involved herself.
"Dad, this is all superstition," Harold argued loudly.
"That's enough, Harold. Better to believe it than not. Just do what Dad says," Michelle said quickly.
"But we didn't hurt anyone! No matter how hard we rack our brains, we can't think of anything!" Harold insisted, clearly frustrated.
"Honey, maybe tomorrow we should all go to the monastery. Light a few candles, say a prayer, maybe donate a little too," Michelle said softly, eyeing Stephen carefully.
Lately, it felt like every bad thing that had happened was somehow connected to her. She didn't even dare raise her voice anymore.
"That's not a bad idea," Stephen replied, still frowning.

Later that week, Demi and the rest of the cast were flying overseas for the show. The destination? A tropical island outside the country.
All the guests were scheduled to fly to Holnia Island first, then catch a connecting flight from there.
Demi's flight was on Friday morning. Since that was the only morning flight to Holnia Island, she ended up running into Ana, Thomas, and Harold at the airport.
Demi had no idea why Harold was even tagging along—and she didn't really care. She slipped on her headphones and dove straight into studying.
Thomas kept glancing over at her, but she pretended not to notice.
...
Demi and the others landed at the Holnia Island airport three hours later.
