A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 300

When Thomas finally caught up, he was greeted by a scene straight out of a surreal nightmare. If the first two bolts of lightning had been dismissed as mere coincidences, this third one simply couldn't be chalked up to chance.

In the cramped tent, every soul inside jumped at the deafening thunder and blinding flash. The storm seemed to have a personal vendetta. Could it be that Ana had sworn again?

...

Online, the live chat exploded with heated debates. Some viewers insisted it was just normal storm behavior, arguing that thunder and lightning were par for the course on a rainy day. Others, however, were convinced that something far more sinister was at work.

"Another lightning strike? No way. That's just a coincidence!"

"Maybe Ana's lying again. She's clearly jinxed!"

"Does anyone have proof? How do we know it wasn't her swear that called down the wrath of the heavens?"

...

Out in the rain-soaked forest, Ana had collapsed to the ground after her latest oath, her wild hair and tear-streaked face a picture of raw terror and heartbreak. Amid her anguished cries, her voice trembled with a mixture of fear, sorrow, and indignation.

"Annie, if you truly did toss Demi's protective charm in the trash, then you owe a sincere apology. Demi hasn't forgiven us—not just because of the accident," Thomas said sternly.

"I didn't..." Ana started to protest, but then she clutched her mouth in horror as a deep rumble rolled overhead—a final, ominous warning from the skies.

"Alex, I'm going home! I can't stand this anymore!" she sobbed, shaking her head violently.

Both Thomas and Alex exchanged troubled glances. They'd never seen anything like this before—swearing that apparently summoned thunder was beyond their wildest imaginations.

Unbeknownst to them, someone had been quietly recording the entire ordeal on their phone, capturing every anguished cry and every flash of lightning.

Meanwhile, back at the Pitt residence, chaos reigned in the study. Michelle burst in, phone in hand, her face etched with panic. "Honey, you won't believe it—Demi somehow managed to summon lightning! Ana got hit by it!"

Stephen frowned deeply as he listened, his irritation simmering beneath the surface. Business had been rough lately, and the sudden fallout from this debacle was the last thing he needed.

"What are you talking about?" Stephen frowned, his tone laced with irritation and displeasure.

Lately, the company's business hadn't been going smoothly. Two companies that had been cooperating well with them suddenly cut ties. This situation had him completely stressed out, and as a result, his temper had gotten a lot worse.

Michelle hurriedly explained everything—the series of oaths, the thunderclaps, and Ana's terrified cries.

"Did Annie really get struck by lightning? Give me the phone," Stephen said, clearly skeptical, as he reached out for Michelle's phone.
