A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 21

"Thank you for sharing with us, Demi. Though I must say, we're still none the wiser!" Matt quipped with a chuckle before turning to Ana. "Is this your first time in a rural village?"

"I've filmed in mountain areas before, but I've never traveled such a bumpy road," Anna pouted slightly, reminiscent of a child complaining to her parents.

Matt grinned. "Well, you'll have to get used to it since you're on the show!"

Ana suddenly straightened her posture, determination lighting up her face as if making a solemn vow. "I can adapt."

The netizens began to comment.

"Ana is so cute!"

"She's like a little kid—scared but so determined! How adorable."

"Poor Anna. I'm sending her virtual pats."

Matt nodded approvingly before turning to Maria. "Why did you and Demi hit it off so quickly?"

"Oh, you've already said it. It's like love at first sight. There's no reason. You just feel it," Maria said with a laugh. She wouldn't reveal the true reason, of course.

Initially, Maria had sought out Demi because she wanted a capable partner for the tasks ahead. But after spending time with her, she found Demi genuinely endearing. It did feel like there was some instant chemistry between them.

"Alright. May your wish come true," Matt teased.

The "wish" naturally referred to Maria's dream to team up with Demi.

Maria shot a suspicious glance at Matt and asked, "You wouldn't be up to any tricks, right? Like deliberately assigning Demi to another team?"

"We'll follow the show's rules," Matt replied calmly before turning to Wendy. "Mrs. Yale, if you had the chance to team up with one of the other three male guests instead of Mr. Yale, would you do it? And if so, who would you choose?"

Wendy chuckled and replied, "Absolutely. Any of the three would be fine. They're all better than Nigel."

"Honey, what are you saying?" A voice, tinged with both indignation and wounded pride, sounded from outside the courtyard gate.

Everyone turned and saw the four male guests strolling in.

"How did you guys get here so fast? Did you learn how to fly?" Wendy asked in surprise.

"We ran into a group herding donkeys and hitched a ride back. Don't change the subject. I heard every single word you just said," Nigel complained with a scornful look.

Wendy was unbothered by his question. "We're here to have fun and meet new people. Back home, we're together all the time. We're on a show, and you want to stick together with me again? Aren't you sick of me yet?"

"Would I dare say it if I was?" Nigel replied with an aggrieved expression.
