Although Benedict estimated that Demi would be home around seven in the evening, he didn't rush his children to visit her.
That was because it would be dinnertime then, and it wouldn't be appropriate to drop by unannounced.
By the time he had dinner with his children, it was nearly eight o'clock when he finally sent Demi a voice message.
"Demi, I'll be bringing my children over to visit you later. Are you at home now?"
The six West siblings eagerly stared at Benedict's phone, waiting for Demi's reply.
However, there was no response for a long time. It was over ten minutes before Demi's message finally arrived.
"Mr. West Senior, I'm currently outside and will be back in about an hour."
"This Ms. Demi sure is something," Benson said with a smile.
After all, whenever Benedict sent someone a message, people would usually respond immediately. Even if they missed it, they would apologize nervously for the delay.
Yet, Demi acted as if nothing major had happened. She had even asked Benedict to wait an hour.
"What are you saying?" Benedict shot Benson a glare.
"Sure. Just let me know when you're back," Benedict calmly replied to Demi.
…
Demi was currently out shopping for clothes and other essentials with Margaret and Timothy.
Since school started tomorrow, she needed to buy Timothy some nice clothes, a backpack, and school supplies.
Of course, she also took the opportunity to get some things for Margaret, slowly filling up the wardrobe in the villa.
However, Margaret was extremely resistant to her granddaughter buying her clothes.
"Demi, don't buy anything for me! You two go ahead and shop. I'm just an old woman—what does it matter what I wear?"
"This is too expensive! Just buy me a few cheap outfits to wear!"
"Don't buy it. You can spend the money you saved on yourself! It's expensive to live in a big city. Even though you're making money now, you should still save some. With money in hand, you won't have to work so hard in the future!"
"I'm not trying it on!"
"It doesn't look good!"
"It doesn't suit me!"
Margaret put on a full display of what it meant to go from active refusal to passive resistance throughout the entire trip.
At first, Demi earnestly tried to persuade and coax her.
"When Timmy and I have parent-teacher meetings in the future, don't you want to dress up properly and look presentable? What if people think we're poor and try to bully us?
"I have money now, so of course, I want you and Timmy to live well. You should eat good food, wear beautiful clothes, and live in a nice villa. Otherwise, what's the point of earning money? That's why I earn money. Besides, I'm not struggling at all to earn it!"
Despite Demi's efforts, Margaret remained unmoved.
Following that, Demi wised up. She secretly instructed the store clerks to tell Margaret that the store was having a massive sale—everything was 90% off and was super cheap.
