Although Margaret had never received an envelope like this before, she had seen something like it from TV shows. So, she knew at a glance that it was packed with money.
She hurriedly rejected it, saying, "I don't want it. I didn't do much anyway!"
"Nonsense! You saved my life!" Josh said in gratitude.
"Even so, I still can't take it. We're all neighbors here, and I've never rewarded you for helping me in the past, right?" Margaret shook her head in determination.
Then, both sides started shoving the envelope back and forth. In the end, Demi said, "Mrs. William, you should just take the money back. I've started to make money now, and we're not short on cash at all. So, use the money to buy something healthy for Mr. William."
"That's right. Demi has a point. You need the money more than we do now, so just take it back. If you insist on giving it to me, I'm going to get mad," Margaret said while pretending to be upset.
Catherine hesitated for a moment before she stopped insisting. "Alright… In that case, remember to let us know if you need anything in the future."
When Josh noticed the herbs in the yard, he said in surprise, "Mrs. Moone, when did you start practicing medicine?"
"Well, my body has always been weak, so I started researching medicine myself," Margaret lied awkwardly.
"You sure are awesome, Mrs. Moone! I can't believe you've become so skilled after researching medicine by yourself. If you had started when you were younger, you would've become a miracle doctor," Silvia said with a huge thumbs up.
"Oh, it's nothing. I'm just researching it blindly." Margaret waved her hands embarrassedly.
…
After they chatted for a while, Margaret reminded the Williams solemnly, "By the way, don't tell anyone else about how I treated you!"
"We remember. We won't tell anyone about it. Many people have asked us who cured Josh, but we just tell them that we don't even know ourselves," said Catherine.
"That's good. It's not that I'm unwilling to treat others. I'm just not skilled enough, and I'm worried I might make it worse for someone else. So, I don't want to invite trouble to myself," Margaret said with a sigh.
