The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 753

In a rundown farmhouse on the fringes of a sleepy, secluded village, two young women found themselves in a dire predicament. They had been yanked from their everyday lives by a couple of lowlifes who made a living out of kidnapping pretty young women for shady dealings.

With no way to call for help and a guard posted outside, Allison and her friend, Katherine, were trapped. The thug outside seemed like the muscle, while the one barking orders earlier was clearly the boss. Allison had shut the door tight behind her; there was no easy way out.

Their eyes roamed the room, settling on the dusty, old-fashioned windows lined with rusty, moldy bars—a clear sign that no one had lived there for ages.

Allison spotted a few broken sticks scattered on the floor, sparking an idea for their escape.

She whispered to Katherine, who was keeping an eye on the door, "Hey Kate, toss me your jacket, will ya?"

Katherine was wearing a thin denim chambray jacket. It was light but surprisingly sturdy.

Without missing a beat, Katherine slipped off her jacket and handed it to Allison, then resumed her watch at the door.

Allison twisted the fabric, threading it between two bars, and pulled with all her might. The bars, hollow and rusted from years of neglect, began to bend under the pressure. A glimmer of hope shone in Allison's eyes—they might just make it out.

As she struggled, Katherine, noticing her difficulty, hurried over. "The guy outside's had a few beers and is glued to some soap opera. I've got sharp ears; I'll hear him if he moves. Let's do this together."

With their combined effort, the task became easier. Soon enough, the bars bent and snapped at the corners. With one final heave from Allison, the weather-worn bars broke away. The window was small, barely larger than a car's, but both women were slim and agile. Allison climbed up onto Katherine's shoulders and squeezed through the opening, then reached back to pull her friend out.

The village was just as Allison had imagined—desolate and eerie.
