Allison edged closer and nudged the woman on the floor with her elbow. She figured it was best to wake her up first; at least they could brainstorm an escape together.

The woman's eyes fluttered open, then widened in panic. Yet, she seemed composed under pressure. Sitting up, she scanned the surroundings and realized that Allison had been kidnapped just like her. Their eyes locked for a few seconds.

In this perilous situation, both Allison and the stranger seemed remarkably calm. The woman shuffled closer to Allison, her hands working behind her back to untie Allison's bindings. They were halfway through when they heard voices outside. Quickly, they slumped against the wall, pretending to be asleep.

A burly man entered. "These two still out cold?"

Another followed, "These ladies are lookers; the bosses will definitely like 'em. Don't let 'em go hungry. Once they wake up, give 'em something to eat. We'll ship 'em out tomorrow night. This batch is top-notch; one's a stunner, the other's got grace like a nymph. We'll fetch a pretty penny for sure."

"Should we wait? Kun's scouting the night market for fresh picks, but no luck so far."

"Wait 'til tomorrow. If nothing comes up, we'll make do with these two. Keep your eyes peeled, don't screw this up."

Once the footsteps faded and the door clicked shut, the two women opened their eyes. The stranger crawled over to Allison, who stood up and carefully peeled the tape from her mouth. The woman bit at the rope on Allison's wrists, her lips turning red and raw until, finally, the ropes were loose. Allison winced as she removed the tape from her bleeding lips.

The woman spoke, "Name's Katherine."

"Allison," she replied.
