Upon hearing that, the guard from outside was quick to enter and report, “Don’t worry, Madam. He’s simply receiving another check-up from a doctor.”
“B-but that syringe on the floor…” muttered the doubtful Xavia.
Raising a slight brow, the guard then gave the syringe a proper look… and after squinting a bit, he was prompted to reply, “…This doesn’t feel like regular medicine. Hold on, I’ll go ask about it.”
After the restless woman nodded in response, the guard quickly made his way out…
Thankfully, it didn’t take long for him to return and say, “Don’t worry, Madam. It’s just a painkiller they used to ease Young Master Burton’s routine check-up.”
Though relieved to hear that, she couldn’t help but nibble on her fingernails the second the guard left. Why had she felt so worried just now…? I-It was just because he was the father of those kids, right…? After reassuring herself of that fact, she headed to the bathroom to wash her face. Little did she know that her worry was perfectly warranted… After all, Zivon had been brought to the operation room against his will!
Since he had only been injected with a low dose of anesthesia, Zivon, though unable to move, could still freely glare at the man who was standing before him… It was Mr. Squire!
After clearing his throat, the doctor said, “Now… I know that this seems sketchy at best, but believe me when I say that I just want to talk… Basically, our families have always been on good terms, and Fiona grew up with you as well… With that said… could you please let her off the hook one final time…? I swear I won’t let her repeat such heinous acts ever again-”
“Is that a request or a threat? If I refuse, are you planning on mutilating me on the operation bed? Hmm? Or killing me?” scoffed Zivon.
Looking down, Mr. Squire eventually replied, “…Of course not, I just… This was the only way we could’ve been able to talk since you refused to see me so much… So now that things have come to this, can we please have a civilized conversation…? You already know that I only have one child, and my wife has already fainted several times out of worry for Fiona’s sake… So please… Please give Fiona another chance…”
Following that, he got to his knees, making it seem like he was genuine in his apology. Alas, which genuine person would anesthetize another just to be forgiven?!
Sneering in response, Zivon replied, “Again, now that the entire nation knows about this, it really isn’t in my control anymore.”
