Due to the gag, the only things that escaped her mouth were muffled noises that couldn’t even rival the sounds on the radio! But she couldn’t give up just yet…!
As she continued trying her best to scream, Leo and the other man finally answered the door and asked, “Hello? How may we help you?”
“Ah, we’re just here to conduct a census survey. Could you please hand us your account books? And get everyone in the household to present themselves. If any of you are out, then please provide names for us.”
Finding their thoroughness slightly odd, Leo paused for a moment before ultimately nodding and handing them what they asked for.
After looking through the details, the officer asked, “…Shouldn’t this house only belong to one person?”
“About that… I live a bit further down the road, but since this boy wasn’t born quite right in the head, I moved in with him.”
“If that’s the case, get us your account book, then. Please hurry.”
“Will do,” replied Leo as he hurriedly hobbled off.
Having nothing better to do, the officers began looking around… and after deducting that there was nothing suspicious about the place, they turned to look at the old man before asking, “So, you live here on your own?”
