Strange as it was, he used to think it was Sweet Silvia’s eyes that reminded him of Vianne.
But now, he realized—it was Sweet Silvia’s eyes that truly struck a chord in him, piercing right through to his soul.
“Vianne, Capital City is our home.” Shipley’s hand dropped naturally to her waist, and as he bent his head, his lips brushed a gentle kiss across her forehead. “I’ve been planning to move back for a while now. Honestly, business in Luminova City hasn’t been great lately. Maybe, if we return to Capital City, better opportunities will come our way.”
His voice was soft, laced with affection.
At his words, Vianne lowered her gaze and let out a quiet laugh. She rested against Shipley’s chest and simply nodded, asking nothing more.
So, she’d be seeing Silvia more often once they returned to Capital City.
How utterly tiresome.
Shipley let go of her and turned to search for a new office address for the company. Meanwhile, Silvia was doing the same.
She’d just started her business. With no reputation to speak of, she didn’t need anything extravagant—just a space big enough to fit seven or eight people.
After weighing her options, Silvia settled on a spot in the city’s most bustling business district. There was a vacant office on the eighteenth floor of a high-rise—just the right size.
The agent picked Silvia up and led her to the building for a tour, grinning from ear to ear. “Miss Ashford, you couldn’t have chosen a better time.”
“Oh?” Silvia responded politely, though inwardly she barely registered his sales pitch.
These days, realtors could spin a tale out of thin air just to make a sale.
“You know how it is in Capital City—every inch of space is worth a fortune. Offices in prime locations rarely open up. And wouldn’t you know, I just happen to have two left.” He led her to the far end of the corridor, gesturing at the two neighboring offices. “See? Right here.”
