When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 77

But Dorothea knew Fidelia was Walton’s mistress. There was no way she’d risk getting involved with anyone else. Unless, of course, Lea had a hand in this...

The woman was furious. “Where’s Fidelia? I’ve never seen anyone strip down in a business meeting. Is she desperate for attention or just out of her mind? I’m telling you, she needs to come out and apologize to me right now. If she doesn’t, I’ll blow this whole thing up. If The Gresham’s reputation takes a hit, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

Fidelia didn’t even dare to peek outside. She was locked in the restroom, sobbing so hard she could barely breathe.

“I didn’t do anything. That woman’s making it all up. Please, you have to help me!”

A little while later, someone from the admin department came out to smooth things over. They called the police too, just in case.

Dorothea didn’t bother listening to what the admin team said to the woman. All she cared about was that, after half an hour, the woman finally left. Dorothea was pretty sure she wouldn’t actually cause a scene. After all, there was nothing real to blow up in the first place.

She headed straight to Lenard’s office. “So, Lenard, what do you think we should do about this?”

Lenard sounded her out. “Walton just called. He wants to keep things quiet. Dorothea, what do you want to do?”

“This can be big or small, depending on how we handle it. But if someone’s already barging in and making a fuss, maybe there’s some truth to it.”

Lenard got the message. “Alright, I know what to do.”

That afternoon, while Fidelia was at home trying to calm down, she got an email. She’d been terminated.

She stared at the screen, stunned. She couldn’t believe it. She called Lenard right away, but he was cool and collected, not giving her any room to argue.

“We’ll follow the proper compensation process. Just take some time to rest.”

Fidelia bit her lip so hard she tasted blood. She hung up and immediately tried Walton.

Soon after, Walton called Dorothea into his office.

“I heard you were the one who decided to fire Fidelia?”
