When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 317

The last time Albert tried to break off his engagement with the George family’s daughter, Jarrett was totally against it. But Albert wouldn’t budge.

“Even your niece is about to get married. Are you really planning to stay single forever?” Jarrett said.

Albert just looked down, silent. Honestly, he didn’t know what was wrong with him. Ever since he heard Dorothea and Latham got married, he’d felt like he was losing his mind.

“Dad, just leave it. Let me handle my own life,” Albert muttered.

Jarrett sighed, sounding tired. “Fine, you’re grown up. I can’t control you anymore. I’ll leave the butler to take care of you. I’ll head back and stay out of your way.”

Not long after Jarrett left, Albert sent the butler out too. He just wanted some peace and quiet.

But of course, not everyone respected that.

Latham walked in, smiling like he owned the place. “Wow, Albert. Did you faint from shock after finding out I’m going to be a dad?”

Albert glared at him, his eyes icy and dark. “Why are you here?”

Latham shrugged, shifting his tone from playful to cold in a second. “Why am I here? I’m here to warn you. Albert, do you seriously have nothing better to do than dig up dirt, trying to mess with my marriage? Newsflash, no matter what you pull, my wife and I are only getting better together.”

He leaned in, voice dripping with sarcasm. “And don’t blame me for misleading you. You’re just clueless. Who confuses someone else for their first love, anyway? Too bad the woman you mistook for her is serving life in prison.”

Latham straightened up, brushing invisible dust from his jacket. “I just came to tell you we’re doing great. You might want to keep your eyes open and watch.”

Albert felt a rush of anger, so intense his throat tightened. When the butler came back from seeing the doctor, he found Albert pale as a sheet.

“Albert, are you alright? Should I get the doctor?”
