Everything was a careful negotiation. Nelly’s frustration was wearing thin, and finally, she just let out a sigh. “I’ve already filed the lawsuit,” she admitted, sounding tired.

Felix didn’t miss a beat. “Withdraw it. Get Brody to sign the papers himself. If he won’t, just press pause on the divorce. There’s no need to rush.” He spoke with the calm tone of someone who had a plan for everything. As long as Nelly didn’t stir up trouble, he could keep her past hidden. No one in the Watson family would find anything to use against her while he was around.

Nelly went quiet for a moment, thinking it over. “I’ll consider it.”

Felix smiled, then changed the subject. “I heard from Wayne that you bought the ‘Return’ series at yesterday’s auction. Planning to launch your own brand?”

She nodded, and the conversation slipped comfortably into work. The tension faded. Felix had already set up a new company for her, ready for her to take over whenever she wanted. But the family inheritance rules were clear. He could only invest, not step in or help directly.

Just chatting with her, Felix could tell Nelly was sharp. She didn’t have much business experience, but when she talked about design, she reminded him so much of Christopher. She had real talent and wasn’t afraid to show it.

“One week from now is the Watson family’s brand showcase,” Felix said. “You can bring your designs and make your official debut. I’ll handle the introduction with the family.”

He and Nelly went over the plan, and by the time they finished, their lunch was nearly over. Felix dabbed his mouth with a napkin and turned to Jonah. “I have to head out.”

Jonah stood and gave Felix a polite bow, waiting until he left the room. The way Jonah treated Felix was so formal that Nelly couldn’t help but notice. They didn’t seem like father and son at all. Actually, now that she looked, they didn’t even look alike.

Once Felix left, Nelly finally relaxed. She was still hungry, so she reached for more of the appetizers.

Jonah reached over and picked up her plate right away.

She blinked, thinking he was taking it away. “Wait, I’m still eating…”
