“Yeah.”
Rudy trembled with pain, but he still managed a smile at Nancy.
“Especially when I see the way you look at Jonah. That desperate, needy look in your eyes… Honestly, it makes you impossibly sexy.”
Nancy yanked his hair hard. “I’ll say it one more time. Don’t bring him up.”
“If he’s making you this upset, what about me ruining him for you?”
Rudy gritted his teeth, fighting through the pain. His hands slid to Nancy’s waist.
He actually had a great body. He wasn’t built like Jonah, but he was tall, naturally fit, everything in perfect proportion.
Aside from his messy, over-the-top personality, if you were being honest, Rudy was pretty attractive.
Attractive in a way that made your skin tingle.
“Oh, really? And how exactly would you ruin him? Let him beat you up and end up in jail?”
Nancy scoffed. Rudy didn’t even flinch at her sarcasm. He pulled her close, and she instantly wrapped a hand around his neck.
They were so close Rudy’s face turned red, struggling to breathe, but Nancy’s eyes stayed ice cold.
The colder she got, the more he wanted to break through her walls.
After a long, tense moment, Rudy suddenly flipped the situation. He grabbed her, holding her tight, and kissed her with wild, desperate force.
Nancy tried to lift her knee, but Rudy pressed it down with his thigh, stopping her.
He finally pulled away, and Nancy’s voice cut through the heat. “Rudy, if you touch me again, Felix won’t let you get away with it.”
“So what if he doesn’t? Is he going to force me to marry you?”
“In your dreams. I’d never marry someone like—”
“Like what? At least I care about you more than Jonah ever did.”
Rudy pressed his hand over her mouth, his eyes locked on hers, intense and lingering. He traced her cheek softly with the back of his hand before finally letting go.
Nancy darted away from him.
“Relax, I’m not into forcing people. How about we make a bet? One day you’ll come to me willingly. You’ll want me.”
He said it like it was nothing, giving her one last look before strolling out.
As soon as he was gone, Nancy grabbed a vase and threw it at the door.
Asshole!
She covered her face, sliding down the wall to the floor. Why did everyone have to treat her like this?
Felix. Jonah. Rudy was the worst of all…
…
Meanwhile, Nelly had just arrived in the Capital around noon, only bringing two of Felix’s bodyguards to keep things simple.
The Watson family had an office here, and Jonah had called ahead to make sure someone picked her up.
