The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 285

Danielle looked up and saw the man sitting on the couch.

Raffy was perched on his lap, nestled comfortably in his arms, playing a game on his tablet. Alexander watched the screen over Raffy’s shoulder, his voice gentle as he offered a warning, “Someone’s coming in from the side.”

No sooner had he spoken than Raffy’s character was taken out with a shot to the head.

“Ugh!” Raffy dropped the tablet in frustration, shooting his father a wounded look. “Dad! Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

Alexander chuckled, reaching up to ruffle Raffy’s hair in a deliberately messy way. “You need more practice, champ.”

Raffy pouted and whined, “Dad, can you play a couple rounds for me? I’m so close to ranking up.”

There was nothing but affection and indulgence in Alexander’s eyes. “I’ll help you later. First, let’s eat.”

For this family, moments like this were warm and ordinary.

But for Danielle, she had never belonged here. Alexander’s gentleness and affection were reserved for Raffy alone.

To them, Danielle was invisible—an afterthought at best.

She had no intention of staying for dinner; the very idea made her feel out of place.

Ignoring Julia’s invitation, Danielle headed straight downstairs, passing Alexander and Raffy without so much as a glance.

Alexander looked up, watching her head for the door, then nudged Raffy. “Say goodbye to your mom.”

Raffy’s lips twisted in protest.

He had no desire to call this stepmother “mom.”

But under Alexander’s watchful eye, he grudgingly opened his mouth to say the words.

Danielle didn’t break stride. “Don’t. Don’t make me sick.”

She walked out of the house without looking back.

Raffy bit his lip. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Alexander lifted him up, turning Raffy to face him and studying his expression. “Did you upset your mom?”
