The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 897

Her fingers traced patterns on her knee as she tried to gather her thoughts. Nash, sensing her hesitation, started a new topic. "Miss Crawford, how long are you planning to stay in Northridge City this time? Is your project at the Aerospace Institute very demanding?"

Danielle snapped back to the present, shaking her head slightly. "After the summit, I may need to stay a few more days to finalize some technical collaborations. The institute project has a team handling it, so it's not too urgent right now." She paused, unable to stop herself from asking, "Alexander… has he always been like this? Carrying everything on his own, never talking to anyone about it?"

She thought back on their past. She used to think he was just cold by nature, but she'd never considered that there might be something else going on. After all those years of marriage, she had never once truly reached his inner world.

Nash sighed. "Mr. Davidson has been like this ever since he took over The Davidson Group years ago. The old chairman had just passed away, Nathan and Jake were working against him at every turn, and many of the older board members refused to accept his authority. He had to deal with endless internal problems while also fending off competitors. Over time, he just pushed himself harder and harder. Then came the depression diagnosis, which made him even more determined to hide any vulnerability. He felt he had to hold everything together, or the entire Davidson family would collapse." Nash's grip on the steering wheel tightened. "But I don't think all that was enough to break him. That kind of pressure is something a man can endure, even if it's exhausting. The thing that finally pushes you over the edge is rarely the most obvious burden. There was something else… but he never told me what it was."

Danielle pressed her lips together. "He never told me any of this."

"That's just how he is," Nash continued. "He keeps everything bottled up inside. His mood got much worse after you left. There were days he'd lock himself in his office and not say a word. When Nathan took you, he nearly lost his mind. He called in every favor he had, using connections he normally wouldn't touch, just desperate to find you. He was terrified something would happen to you."

By now, the car was approaching her hotel. Nash pulled over and turned to face her. "We're here, Miss Crawford. If you need anything at all, just give me a call. I'll let Mr. Davidson know immediately."
