The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 282

For now, the matter was settled—she just had to wait for the results of the car inspection.

The project was her top priority, and Danielle quickly threw herself back into work.

It wasn’t until the end of the day, right before she was about to leave, that her phone rang. Alexander’s name flashed on the screen.

She hesitated. Now that they were divorced, she really ought to block his number. But thanks to the clauses in their divorce agreement, she couldn’t—not yet, anyway. Other than what was strictly necessary for work or confidentiality, she wanted nothing to do with him.

Still, she knew Alexander never called without a reason. Better to just get it over with.

She answered, her voice cool and distant. “What is it?”

“Your car’s out of commission. I figured commuting to work and picking Niki up will be a hassle. If you’re free, come pick out a new one at the dealership.”

It was compensation they’d agreed on—of course he wouldn’t go back on his word. Danielle just hadn’t expected him to handle it so quickly. It was almost as if he was in a hurry to sever all remaining ties.

Which was fine by her. The less entanglement, the better. Best to take care of this as soon as possible.

“Now?” she asked.

“If you’re free, sure.”

Danielle called a cab and headed to the BMW dealership. Alexander was already waiting inside.

He glanced at her as she walked in. “Pick whichever one you like.”

There were plenty of models on display, but Danielle wasn’t picky. She scanned the options and chose one almost at random.

“Are you sure?” Alexander asked, his gaze settling on the X7 she’d pointed out—mid-range, nothing flashy.

She nodded. “I’m sure.”
