Chapter 243
Chapter 243
LYRIC
Bianca did a good job taking care of me.
Unfortunately, there were no Wolf doctors in Singapura as it was human land. Hence, Bianca had to be the one to tend to my wounds.
We were in her room where I sat in front of the mirror, staring at my bleak reflection.
His claws had left a mark on my face, below my hairline, down to the corner of my left eye. It was a nasty one and I hoped to the Moon it’d go away.
The left eye was already developing a dark cavity. No doubt it’d be swollen by morning.
I felt irritated—at myself and everything.
Bianca returned to my side with the bandage she had managed to get and covered the wound with it.
“Do you feel better, ma’am?” Her voice was quieter than normal. She was trying to mask her sadness.
I lowered my eyes to the floor. What a shame she had to see this.
Back at home, some of the house keepers were the only ones that knew he hurt me. Now, it was someone from the company. How far would Caden go to ruin me?
I didn’t give an answer to her question; because I, in no way, felt better.
“Why are you doing this?” She asked, much to my surprise, wearing a certain expression that revealed she had been carrying that question for a long time.
“Why are you here, ma’am? I mean, clearly you don’t love him–unlike what the people think. And frankly speaking, I don’t think King Caden is capable of love. He hurts you! Look at what he did to you. Even a monster wouldn’t do this to his beloved! He’s eating you up!”
She brought her hands up and slapped them against her waist.
I stared idly at the floor.
“I know this has been happening for some time.”
I looked up at her in surprise.
“Yes. I mean, those mornings you’d come to work with swollen eyes and tell me you got them from working all night?” She snorted. “I do see the tiny marks, ma’am! Even if no one else does. This guy is clearly killing you. So, why are you with him?”
My eyes dropped to my nails where I mindlessly twirled them between my fingers, a sob forming in my throat.
It took a lot of willpower to gulp down the sob. Bianca had seen enough of my tears for the night.
“I don’t have a choice,” I said softly.
“Yes, you do. You could choose to leave. 1–I can help you gather enough money from the company. You can go far away from him, ma’am. You can save yourself.”
I laughed. Oh, how tempting it sounded.
If only I could go away from here and start afresh. But what about the contract? What about my kids? There was so much I’d be leaving behind.
“You don’t understand, Bianca.” There was a small crack in my voice, one I couldn’t avoid. “I hate it here. Everyday is a nightmare and I’d want nothing

more than to be free of him. But I can’t. I’m… trapped.”
Shit. I shouldn’t have said the last word, because it gave Bianca an idea right away.
“Did you sign a contract with him?” She wore a puzzled look.
I took a deep breath, wagging my head from side to side.
“Goodness! You signed a deal!” She gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. “This explains why you can’t leave him!”
We both froze when we heard a knock on the door. It could only be one person.
I rushed to my feet, taking several steps back like he was in the room already.
“I don’t want to see him. T–Tell him I’m having my bath.”
I turned toward the bathroom before Bianca could reply.
I hid behind the bathroom door and listened. If be tried to force his way in, the plan was to lock myself in there for however long I needed.
I heard Bianca open the door, followed by her paying homage to the monster.
“Where is she?” He sounded calmer,
“Sh–She’s having her bath, sir.”
“Tell her I want to see her. I need her back in the room.”
“I um…” Bianca cleared her throat. “I don’t think that’ll be possible, sir. She’s very sick and said she wants to sleep. I–I think she needs a lot of rest.”
I expected him to be more unreasonable. Yell at Bianca and order her to do as he said.
Surprisingly, he responded with, “Okay. I’ll see her in the morning, then.”
He left.

I walked out to the balcony, shirtless. The sight below was beautiful. One advantage of taking a higher suite.
I fixed a cigar into my mouth, lit it and smoked while I continued staring at the anterior. Or maybe that was what I tried to do.
should’ve never been here. If I had even the slightest ide
t I’d find her here, I’d have forfeited the multi–billion dollar deal that brought me here.
Seeing her the day before when I alighted the elevator shocked me to the bones. It was unexpected and awakened emotions I didn’t wish to feel.
For the past six months, all I had that reminded me of her wo
s the mention of her name.
I couldn’t explain the rage that filled me up each time I laid eyes on her. It was a different kind.
Seeing her made me feel hurt, betrayed, and a deep sense of loneliness.
I didn’t fail to notice how thin she looked. She might still have pretty face, but she’d lost a lot of weight in a span of six months, and that was kind of
alarming.
There was a deep part of me that wanted to know what was wrong with her. I couldn’t understand it. But there was also a part of me that was happy she was suffering.

I didn’t want her to be happy. Not when I wasn’t.
I heard ruffling and movements behind me before Hua appeared by my side.
“Babe. Have you been up for long?” She asked drowsily, leaning her head on my back.
I hit the end of my cigar on the railing. “I told you to only call me that in public.”
I felt her stiffen.
“Yeah, sorry. By the way, I noticed you didn’t finish on me. Was there a problem?”
Of course. How could I finish when the one person that could make me wasn’t here?
I hated the fact that I needed her.
“Do you need me to try some more?” Her voice dropped to a seductive tone, skimming her hand along my back. “I know a few tricks.”
I hissed when I noticed my cigar was done. I moved away to dispose of it in the bin.
“Get dressed and leave, Hua.”
I disappeared into the bathroom.
