Chapter 242
Chapter 242
LYRIC
Caden opened the door with so much force it’d have startled me if my mind wasn’t so numb.
I simply glanced at him before returning my gaze to the mirror where I brushed my hair.
He paused at the door, raking his eyes’o
over me. “What the fuck?”
I’d changed into my nightdress already.
“When and why the hell did you leave the party without telling the restroom?”
“I didn’t. I just couldn’t return to the rooftop.”
“And why not? Were the fuck were you, Lyric!?”
“Can you tune it down? Bianca is just over there!”
We?” He shut the door with as much as force as he’d opened it with. “You lied to me about
“Oh, trust me, you’ll have much more to worry about if you don’t start talking. Where the fuck were you?”
“I told you, I was at the party! Someone… spilled wine on my dress so I couldn’t return.”
He looked at the bed where the stained dress lay and noticed it for the first time.
“Who was it?” He didn’t seem to be done with the topic.
“Just a random guest. It was an accident.”
“And it was so bad you couldn’t tell me you were leaving?”
“I was upset, Caden. I told you I didn’t want to go to the party in the first place.” I angrily dropped the brush on the table.
Next thing I knew, I was being dragged away from my seat and slammed against the wall. The impact slammed into my head, leaving it spinning. I hissed in pain.
I was about to snap at him, but when I saw his eyes, my mouth sealed shut. Fear kept me frozen, I didn’t dare struggle against his hold.
His eyes were black. Pure black. Normal wolves had yellow glow, Alphas had red, but Caden’s was black. It was the first time I was seeing a glow like that.
It terrified the hell out of me. And it made it worse to know his fury was the reason behind this. He could kill me!
“Have you been lying to me, Lyric?” He practically gritted the words, a low growl forming behind each syllable. “Did you go to see him behind my back?”
“Caden, please”
“Answer me!”
“No! I didn’t go to see him, I swear!”
I was a trembling mess. He looked terrifying right now and I didn’t want to be in this room with him.
His black eyes held mine for a long time before he hissed. “You’re lying.”
I shook my head, terror washing over me, “No…”

Chapter 242
“You’ve been fucking lying to me!” His fist connected with my belly, delivering a blow more painful than normal.
No. He couldn’t use this strength on ine. I won’t survive it.
I groaned loudly and almost slipped to the floor, but he held me upright, pinned to the wall with a hand around my throat.
“Caden, wait-”
“We had a deal, Lyric.”
“You’re not thinking straight.”
“You were not supposed to see him! Even after all these months, are you still obsessed with him? Tell me!”
“No! Please…!”
The fear increased when I saw the claws on his hand. His beast was emerging!
Bianca knocked on the door. “Ma’am? Is–Is everything okay?” Her voice was shaking.
Even she couldn’t help me at this point.
“What did you two talk about? Huh? Tell me!”
“We didn’t talk about anything. I didn’t see-”
“What is so special about him, huh? You won’t give yourself to me, but you’ll gladly open your legs to him over and over again? I’ve given you more than he ever did!” His eyes glowed darker. “Protection, respect, wealth! I made you who you are, Lyric! Yet you won’t give yourself to me. You traitor.” Another punch.
My cry got stuck in my throat as his hand tightened around it.
“Ungrateful bitch!” Another punch.
He squeezed my throat so hard I couldn’t make a sound except squeaks.
I was going to die!
“Maybe you feel too beautiful,” he tilted his head to the side, his face looking more evil. “Perhaps, if you had little flaws, it’d get him uninterested.”
The terror of his words threatened to take my life even before he did. My hands were on his around my throat, yet despite my efforts, I couldn’t free my throat from him. His grip was just too powerful.
His free hand hovered over my face, his index claw coming to touch my chin.
Adrenaline kicked in. Gathering the last strength I could, I kicked him between his legs.
It loosened his grip around my throat, yet the relief didn’t even last up to a second. Before I could catch my breath and take a step, he was on me again, keeping me pinned against the wall.
“Ma’am!?” Bianca knocked more frantically.
“Get the fuck away from the door!” Caden growled in her direction.
My whole body trembled under the weight of pain and fear. My hand clutched my abdomen like it could soothe the ache from his blows.
“I’m not done with you,” his nose twitched as he looked back at me. “Maybe if you didn’t have so many men admiring you, you’ll consider being mine
“No. Please. Please, don’t do this.”
