The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1774

Adonis tried to put Charlotte at ease, speaking quickly. “Don’t worry. Maybe Mr. Churchill just ran into something and got delayed on the way.”

Honestly, even he didn’t quite believe what he was saying. This was Charlotte’s wedding. The invitations had gone out a month ago. Mr. Churchill wasn’t just her mentor—he was like family. If he really wanted to come, would he have missed it? Probably not.

The truth was, Charlotte had never realized that her teacher’s feelings weren’t just mentorly concern. There was something else there, something deeper. To stand by and watch the woman you love marry someone else… that has to hurt.

Maybe that’s why he stayed away.

Outside the hotel, Anthony was already dressed for the big moment—a sleek black suit that fit him perfectly, a single lily at his collar. He looked confident, poised, and almost unfairly good-looking.

He took care of the last-minute details with the other VIP guests, then glanced sideways at Hans. His voice was low and tense. “Has Newell arrived yet?”

Hans shook his head. “No sign of Mr. Churchill so far.”

Anthony frowned, thinking it over. Was Mr. Churchill really going to skip out, or was he just waiting to make a grand entrance? Maybe even stop the wedding?

“Get some more people watching the doors and let me know the second he shows up,” Anthony ordered, before heading back to the bridal suite.

At exactly ten-thirty, the wedding started.

The whole venue glowed under sweeping lights, decked out in lilies and sparkling diamonds. Every inch shimmered. Friends and family filled the huge hall, all talking in murmurs until the music began.

Everyone fell silent, turning to watch the entrance.
