The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1779

“You don’t want me to marry Anthony… or is it something else?”

Charlotte narrowed her eyes at Newell, making him tense up a little. Normally, he was cool as ever, but for a second he actually looked nervous.

“You planning to keep me as your permanent worker or something?”

Newell just fell silent, lost in thought.

Of course. She only ever shows her soft side to Anthony.

Charlotte popped a candy in her mouth, the sweetness immediately lifting her spirits. Finally seeing the person she wanted to see had put her in a much better mood. “Keep dreaming. Your organization, your problem.”

Newell gave a helpless little laugh. He didn’t know what else to say.

A moment passed. Then Newell stood, moved over to her, and crouched right in front of her so they were face to face.

“Charlotte…” He spoke slower this time, his eyes as gentle as his voice. “It makes me happy to see you happy.”

At least this proved he’d made the right choice back then.

“I hope you’ll always be happy.” Newell’s hand reached out, his warm palm resting gently on the top of Charlotte’s head. “If one day Anthony ever stops treating you right, you can leave, anytime. Just come back to me.”

“Mr. Churchill, you’re overthinking. That day’s never going to come.”

As soon as she finished talking, the dressing room door opened. Anthony walked in with his usual strong, confident stride, heading straight for Charlotte. Without a word, he pulled her close, watching Newell with a guarded look. “Focus on your recovery. Leave everything else to us.”

Newell’s hand hung awkwardly mid-air. He froze for a second, then let his hand drop, his lips pulling into a half-mocking smile. “Make sure it stays that way. Or else…”

“Or else what?” Anthony cut in, staring right back.
