The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1773

“You realize with the money we spent on this wedding, we probably could’ve built a couple of medical labs, right?”

Charlotte’s bright eyes drifted outside the car window, her delicate face crinkling, makeup still flawless. “And that’s just what I can see. Wait until we get to the main hall… who knows how much the total will be, I mean…”

Her words stopped short. Anthony’s lips caught hers mid-sentence, leaving her next thought stranded.

“Lottie, let me remind you. Today’s our wedding, not a business negotiation. No need to worry about return on investment.”

Anthony’s left hand settled at her waist, his right gently holding her neck. They were close, almost sharing the same breath. “Got it?”

Charlotte met his intense gaze and blinked, answering quietly, “Oh.” For a second she looked thoughtful again. “But honestly, I just think the money—mmph…”

He stopped her with another kiss.

Up front, Hans caught their reflection in the rearview mirror and silently raised the divider. Moments like this, he figured he belonged under the car, not inside it.

After half an hour, the wedding car pulled up outside The Hamilton. Anthony leaned in and wiped a lipstick smudge from the corner of Charlotte’s mouth, grinning mischievously.

“Sorry. I got carried away.”

Charlotte turned her head, cheeks hot. “Just be quiet.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Anthony’s eyes softened at her, then he kissed the tip of her nose, coaxing, “Can I carry you inside?”

“Hang on,” Charlotte said, holding her slender fingers to his red suit. Her eyes, bright and sharp, locked on his face. She lowered her voice, “That last math problem back there. You didn’t really solve it on the spot, did you?”
