The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1419

Apex Mediaworks was buzzing. The moment people heard J had shown up at the office, one executive after another lined up, hoping to sway her.

“J, we know you’re not after the copyright. Anyone who can casually throw down three hundred million can’t possibly be strapped for cash.” The director sat across from Charlotte, knees together, hands pressed in his lap, stress etched across his face. His words carried the weight of someone who had rehearsed this pitch way too many times. “But you wouldn’t want your incredible work to end up collecting dust, right?”

Charlotte cuddled a throw pillow Emily had given her, resting her chin in her hand. She didn’t look upset or even especially interested. There was just a faint smirk playing on her lips. “So what are you trying to say?”

The second she spoke, the director perked up, eager to lay out his plan. “All we need is to swap the leading lady, maybe shuffle the cast a bit, and everything will fall right into place.”

Charlotte leaned back, her eyes sharpening. “So, ditch Emily and let Adela take over?”

The director flinched, clearly embarrassed. “It’s not that Emily has to give up entirely…” He checked himself, wiping nervous sweat from his brow, looking like he was seconds away from pleading. “There are plenty of great parts besides the lead. Emily’s talented enough to shine in any role.”

Charlotte didn’t reply. She just stared, cold and silent.

The director looked like he was about to shrink into the carpet. Emily sat to the side, trying to make herself invisible. Honestly, Charlotte with this edge was more terrifying than Anthony on a bad day.

“J, please don’t get upset,” the director stammered, wiping his forehead again. “This is honestly the best solution we could come up with.”
