For a split second, it felt like the whole world hit pause. The set went dead quiet. Nobody moved. Every crew member stood frozen, gaping at Emily and Kenneth, their lips pressed together for real.
Was this actually happening? No fancy camera tricks? They were actually kissing. For real.
“This can’t be…” Pam’s eyes went wide as she took in the scene. Her face fell in shock.
Emily had done plenty of love scenes over the years, but it was always acting, always positioned just right for the camera to fake the intimacy. As for Kenneth... well, Pam was sure he’d never even had a girlfriend, not in real life.
That meant this was more than just his first on-screen kiss. If people found out this was also his real first kiss, it would blow everyone’s minds.
Pam rubbed her forehead and shook her head, her thoughts a tangled mess.
“Director…” the cameraman started, hoisting his camera helplessly.
“Shhh. Don’t say anything.” The director snapped out of his trance, sprang up from his chair and hurried to the monitor. His eyes lit up as he watched the shot unfold. “Look at this shot... it’s incredible.”
On screen, Emily’s hands rested on Kenneth’s shoulders, pressing herself closer. His clean, addictive scent wrapped around her and made her head spin.
She shifted a little, uncertain, and her lashes swept lightly across Kenneth’s cheek.
The light, feathery touch jolted Kenneth back to reality. Something flared in his eyes, a flash of heat mixed with confusion, and his whole body tensed up.
Just as he started to pull away, ready to recover from the surprise, Emily’s hand curled around his neck. She murmured, barely audible, “The director didn’t yell cut.”
If there was no “cut,” then the scene had to go on.
“Huh?” Kenneth blinked, his dark eyes searching Emily’s face. His hands gripped her waist a little tighter.
“Keep going.” Emily’s voice was shaky as her blush crept down her neck. Still, she closed the distance between them again, sticking to the script.
