Charlotte was pregnant, so her hormones were a mess, and she was still feeling the aftershocks of what happened on the Isle of Veil. If word about her marriage got out too soon, it wouldn’t be good for her or the baby. Plus, going back to school would become a headache she really didn’t need.
“Anthony, the back entrance is ready,” Hans said, respectful as always. He led them through the back way into the concert venue.
Kenneth had already arranged a VIP section for them. Bodyguards stood all around, making sure they had some peace and quiet.
“Charlotte, this is for you,” Shirley said, handing her a headband with both hands, almost like she was handling something precious. “Will you wear it?”
Charlotte took one look at the headband, her lips pressed together, clearly unimpressed. “What’s this supposed to be?”
Shirley fiddled with her fingers, then leaned in and wrapped her arms around Charlotte’s arm, her voice coaxing. “It’s got Kenneth’s name on it. If you don’t wear it, it just feels wrong.”
Charlotte studied the headband for a second, then glanced over at Anthony, who was busy hunting for snacks for her.
“What’s up?” Anthony looked up. His face was as handsome as ever, but there was a little frown as his eyes met Charlotte’s bright, expectant gaze.
“Anthony, do me a favor.” Charlotte raised her eyebrows, her lips curling into a small smile.
That’s how it ended up: Shirley, Stella, Andrew, Parrish, and even Anthony, all sitting there with these outrageously childish headbands on. Charlotte leaned back in her seat, looking relaxed and totally at ease, her delicate face half hidden by the brim of her hat.
Andrew and Parrish tried to sneak glances at Anthony. Stella and Shirley couldn’t help staring either. Anthony actually looked kind of cute today. Only Charlotte could get away with messing with him like this.
The four of them kept trading looks, trying to hold it in, but finally, they just burst out laughing.
Anthony frowned and shot them a sharp look, his whole vibe turning icy. The laughter died off instantly as they tried to pull themselves together.
