The executives stared in confusion.
Emily’s eyes got even wider, trying to make sense of it all.
Pam was practically gaping at this point.
Everyone just looked over at Kemp, shocked.
What was going on? Wasn’t Kemp supposed to fight for his daughter, make J agree to put Adela on the project? So why was he suddenly apologizing?
For a second, no one dared breathe in the conference room. Outside, tree branches scraped hard against the glass, screeching with every gust of wind. The noise made everything inside feel even tighter, as if the whole room was holding its breath.
Charlotte stood there with a relaxed, almost lazy pose, but something in her eyes was fierce and icy. She stared at Kemp without blinking, like she couldn’t care less about the chaos she’d dropped in their laps.
Kemp knew he’d messed up—really messed up. He kept his head low, still apologizing.
“J, I honestly had no idea who you were. I never guessed you’re the president of the Eldoria Film Foundation…”
Anyone with half a brain in the entertainment industry had heard about J. This was the person who helped Eldoria make a name for itself internationally, who even went as far as funding the entire Eldoria Film Foundation out of their own pocket.
Just thinking about how much money J had tossed into the foundation made Kemp’s head spin—not millions but numbers so big you lost track.
Yet, J always kept things quiet, never showed up at events, never acted like she needed thanks from anyone. She stayed out of the spotlight completely.
So now, Kemp was saying J was that J—the legendary president of the Eldoria Film Foundation?
Pam almost couldn’t believe it. She grabbed Emily’s sleeve, pulling her close. “Emily, are you hearing this? Is J really that amazing J from the industry?”
