Apparently, he had tried to go upstairs to find Chaim on his own and had been stopped by the men Joseph had stationed there.
Vivica was puzzled. She hadn't informed them yet, so how did they know to stop him? It only took her a moment to figure it out.
After her call with Joseph that morning, he must not have trusted her to handle it alone and decided to make the arrangements himself. He had likely also informed Sheridan and Melanie.
Even while away on business, that man always found a way to solve her problems and provide her with an unshakable sense of security.
“Those are the Baird family’s bodyguards. Who told you to go upstairs by yourself?” she snapped at him as she got out and locked her car.
“I’m coming up now. Don’t start a fight with them, or you’ll be the one who gets hurt.”
After hanging up, Vivica quickly made her way upstairs.
When she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Fletcher being watched by two bodyguards as if he were a criminal.
“Mrs. Baird.” The bodyguards greeted her with a respectful nod.
“Thank you. This is Mr. Sanford. He’s here to visit Chaim. I’ve already approved it,” Vivica explained with a polite smile, continuing toward the hospital room without breaking her stride.
“Understood. However, Mr. Baird instructed us to remain with you and Chaim at all times,” one of the guards stated sternly.
“I understand.” Vivica knew Joseph’s reasoning and didn't want to cause him any worry, so she readily complied.
Fletcher, however, was not pleased to hear this.
He quickened his pace to catch up with Vivica, his face etched with displeasure. “Vivica, what is the meaning of this? Why are you being so guarded with me?”
“You’re overthinking it. This is the Baird family’s decision. They’re very protective of Chaim,” Vivica replied calmly, without looking back at him.
