The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 376

Chapter 376

Avery’s POV

Later that day, the doctor discharged me from the hospital, and I was allowed to go home.

It was strange, thinking of Evergreen pack as “home”, but it was admittedly a relief to step inside the increasingly familiar walls of the Alpha house.

Once I was settled, though, I made up my mind.

Something needed to be done if I was going to allow Gideon to come around more. I needed to find a way to protect not only myself, but also Bjorn.

The idea I’d had swirling around my mind for a while now was a risky one, but it felt necessary. If Gideon truly thought that Bjorn and I were fully bound to another man, then he wouldn’t try to rip us away. (15

At least, that was what I told myself.

I found Sebastian in his office and explained my thoughts to him. He listened the entire time, and when I was finished, he nodded slowly, tenting his fingers in his lap.

“Are you sure about this?” he asked. “A relationship contract may make things messier than they already are. Besides, I’ve already given you my word.”

I nodded shortly. “I know you have, and I’m aware of the risks. Which is precisely why I want the contract, to make sure that we’re all getting the best out of it.” I met his gaze. “I feel awful, Sebastian. You’ve done so much for me, and I’ve put you right in Gideon’s crosshairs because of it.”

Sebastian’s face softened. “You don’t have to sign a contract to make up for it, Avery. I did it because I want to.”

I couldn’t fully comprehend that. To think that someone in the packs actually wanted to help me, just because they wanted to, and not for their own gain… It went directly against the world I remembered here. Maybe Sebastian was different after all.

But it didn’t change my mind. “Would you be willing to draw up the contract?” I asked.

Sebastian smiled. “If that’s what you want, then of course. I’ll have my Beta get to work right away.”

By that evening, the contract was ready to go. It was simple-a standard contract outlining a fake

relationship that would last the duration of three months. No more, no less.

During those three months, Sebastian and I would appear as a couple in public, attending events together in order to ensure that Gideon saw us side by side. In private, nothing would change; we would remain friends, nothing more.

During that time, Sebastian would also claim Bjorn as his own son.

It wasn’t all beneficial for me, either. We made sure that this plan would be good for Sebastian as well,

by creating the image of a united family, his pack’s prestige would rise, and his ties to my business would strengthen.

By the end of the three months, our “relationship” would quietly fade, leading many to believe that we’d had an amicable divorce. By that point, I would have finished my work here and returned to the human lands with Bjorn, where we would purchase a new home in a new, undisclosed location. Sebastian would remain as a board member for my business as payment for his help. 1

It all seemed so simple. Maybe that was why I hesitated to sign my name.
