The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 840

Maybe things between her and Jason had ended three years ago.

However, fate just liked to play tricks, because here he was again. She only wanted a quiet meal, but Jason showed up too, stopping right in front of her like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Someone nearby joked about how perfect she and Roger looked together. Lilly just smiled politely, letting the comment hang in the air. She didn’t bother to explain or protest.

But Jason caught her smile, and to him, it looked like something different. Sometimes, silence says more than words ever could. She and Roger were both single. Who knew what could happen?

Roger just laughed, trying to lighten the mood. “Come on, don’t tease us. I don’t mind, but Lilly’s a girl, she gets shy easily.”

That only made the group of executives grin at each other. “Look at Dr. Lee, so protective already.”

“Alright, that’s enough teasing for now. Dr. Lee, Lilly, are you two here for dinner together?”

Roger nodded. “Yeah, Mrs. Lynch and my mom are here too.”

He nodded in their direction and Jason glanced over, spotting a group of well-dressed ladies laughing and chatting. There was Lilly’s mother, May, and Roger’s mom, Miranda, along with a few other ladies from their circle.

Jason’s face stayed unreadable as he looked away.

Suddenly, one of the executives spoke up. “Oh, Mr. Farill, I think I saw you looking at Lilly earlier. Do you know each other?”

Jason turned to Lilly instead of answering. “Lilly, do we know each other?”

He wasn’t about to explain anything to them. He was tossing the ball right into her court.

Lilly’s lashes fluttered for a second, but her voice was calm. “Hello, Mr. Farill. Yes, we’ve met before. Mr. Farill once helped me with something. I’m very grateful.”

Her answer was flawless, polite and distant at the same time. She made it clear there was nothing more between them.
