She felt like an idiot.
In this whole relationship, she was the only one who ever tried. She was the only one who ran toward him while he stood still. Deep down, she kept wanting to ask him why. Why did he have to treat her like this?
Lilly grabbed her phone and scrolled to Jason’s messages. She started typing, her fingers trembling a little.
Why did you disappear three years ago? What about the girl you married? Do you have a new girlfriend now? Is it Hanna? If you’re with Hanna, why did you kiss me? Why did you act like that with me?
She had so many questions, and not a single answer.
Right then, on the other side of the city, Jason was back at his villa, standing in the bathroom, getting ready for a shower. He had his phone in hand, actually planning to message Lilly, when he noticed the little dots in their chat. She was typing.
Jason felt his chest tighten. Was she going to reach out to him?
He waited, watching the screen, holding his breath to see what she would say. The typing dots appeared, then vanished, then appeared again. In the end, nothing came through.
After a while, he gave up and sent her a message himself. Looking for me?
Lilly stared at the screen, torn. She didn’t know if she should ask him anything, or if she even had the right to. There were so many things she wanted to know, but she couldn’t send any of them.
Suddenly, her phone chimed. His message popped up. Looking for me?
Just two words. That was so him. Short, direct, always keeping his distance.
Lilly curled her fingers, hesitated, and finally replied, Mr. Farill, thank you for today.
Jason saw her message and smirked. She thanks him again.
He sent back, Can’t you say something else?
Lilly frowned at her screen. She didn’t get what he meant. Was he with Hanna right now? Or maybe with Frank?
She typed, Am I bothering you? You must be busy. You don’t have to reply.
